Caroline began her career at Aviva, the UK’s largest insurance company (previously Norwich Union) as a graduate trainee in Marketing. She became Head of Research and Insight after the merger of Norwich Union with CGU (Commercial General Union). Caroline held a number of roles at Aviva, including Head of Marketing Strategy and Planning, and Head of Digital Self Service. Roles at a digital agency and a financial services research company followed, before returning to Aviva to run the Customer Insight and Analytics function. Deliveries included upgrading the data infrastructure to create a single view of the customer, with a view to creating future value by driving further cross-product holdings.
Caroline took up a role at Aetna (later to merge with CVS Health), a Fortune 4 US company with a turnover of $358 billion (2023 figure) and 300,000 employees. Caroline was Senior Vice President, Customer Proposition for the international business, with a remit covering marketing, global product, customer experience, direct to consumer sales and service, digital strategy and operations, and global QA and training. Caroline’s reporting line was to the EVP, International, who in turn reported to the President and CEO of CVS, Karen Lynch. Caroline worked for CVS for 10 years. CVS leadership decided to focus on core domestic US business and in 2022, the portfolio’s renewal rights were transferred to Allianz.
Since CVS, Caroline has worked as a consultant as part of Camelot, a network of experts in the UK insurance market, and is currently interim Marketing, Communications and Admissions Director for a co-educational independent school in the UK.
Caroline holds a Masters degree in Modern History from the University of St. Andrews, as well as a Chartered Marketing diploma.
